Keeping it basic

Lately I've been using the same few favorites every day to create a quick look.  The Naked Basics eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay is the perfect little palette for travel...and mixing it with other palettes and products.

Below is a look I did today, I just popped a bit of teal eyeshadow from the Urban Decay electric palette under the lower lash line for a pop of color.
I have been using the Rimmel scandaleyes eyeliner in Nude for my water line to make my eyes look more awake.  It's the perfect creamy consistency.  It does not transfer onto my contacts, which often happens with eyeliners I use on my lower water line.  I have also been LOVING the Too Faced "Better Than Sex" mascara.  It gives my lashes length and volume.  Also featured above is an eyeliner duo from Urban Decay.  I love to use the lighter shade in my inner corner, and the darker shade on my lower lash line.

Do you have any favorite products you like to use when you need to perfect quick 5 minute look?

Flawless makeup tip: Makeup Brushes

The key to flawless makeup application is brushes!  I first discovered makeup brushes from Victoria's Secret years ago and have since expanded my collection tremendously.

Tonight I picked up 2 brush sets at Ross for $7.99 each!  They remind me of the Real Techniques brush sets, for half the cost!  I couldn't pass the up.  I also picked up 3 individual brushes from Target.  I got an ELF Concealer brush, an Up & Up Foundation brush and a Sonia Kashuk blending brush.

I love purchasing and trying out different makeup brushes.  Some of my favorite brands to use are ELF, EcoTools, and Sigma.  I am very excited to try these out and hope they live up to my expectations.  From first impression they seem like they will be excellent additions to my already extensive brush collection!!

Beauty products: One size fits all.

One size fits all.  That is the beauty of beauty products.  Last week I got 2 hauls in.  A mini order from Sephora online... See below...
I have been wanting the Urban Decay smoked palette for a long time now and I am soooo glad it is finally in my collection!!  I absolutely love it.  And along with that I got a 500 point VIB award & the OCC (obsessive compulsive cosmetic) primary pack of lip tars which means I have the power to make ANY lip
color I want!!

Last week I also got a mini order of mark. products from Avon...
These products from mark. put me in the mood for summer time!!  Let's just skip right to summer...forget about spring!  I want bronzed skin, my hair with beach-textured waves, and the scent of coconut & summer time from head to toe!  These products do just that...and I get to enjoy them from the air condition!!

"...The bees'll buzz...the kids'll blow dandelion fuzz...

...Probably getting gorgeously tanned in summer!!!"

Yes.  I had to make a Frozen reference.  What can I say.  I love that movie & Olaf.

Do you believe that beauty products are a one size fits all??

Trip to CVS

So I got a coupon from CVS today... $4 off a $20 cosmetic purchase and I could not resist using it right away!  Milani cosmetics is on sale this week buy one get one 50% off and there were some products I have been eyeing... When I saw the Rimmel products were also on that same deal, I had to pick up the two eyeliners I've been wanting!

The shadow eyez from Milani are absolutely amazing!  I use them as a base for my eyeshadows to help them pop and last longer, and some are even great to use as eyeliners for an added burst of color.  There is a variety of shades from blue to purple to green...to several shades of neutrals...champagne...gold...a matte cream, black, and brown.  If you have not tried them out, make sure to take advantage of the great sale going on at CVS!

I wanted to pick up the multi-tasking face powder, but decided to get the powder foundation instead.  I think it will be great to set makeup and use on days when I just need light coverage.

The new matte blushes from Milani I have been curious to try... The one I picked up is a gorgeous bright pink shade, perfect for spring!  I can not wait to try it out.  I can already tell just from the swatch that I am going to love it!

Do you have any drug store favorites or items on your wish list?

A little bit of pink moon with a dash of love

So a part of me has quite an obsession with bath & body products as well as makeup.  I worked at Bath & Body Works for 7 years so you can just imagine the kind of collection and stash of pampering products I have.

For my birthday, my mom got me this wonderful hand cream that smells heavenly and leaves the skin soft and moisturized.  It is called Pink Moon from Farmhouse Fresh.  And the best part...it's made in Texas!  Yes I loved it so much that I decided to check it out online...see what other products are offered...and where else can I purchase this luxurious product!

This hand cream contains shea butter, as do many out there on the market, but what I think attracted this to me most is that the scent is a naturally sweet scent with a hint of warmth and comfort to it.  Just like someone is baking a sweet vanilla cake.  Here is the description directly from the website:

"This Shea Butter whip is a tubeful of sunsets! Scented like a dreamy Texas night sky with notes of licorice blossom, powder and spun sugar. Delicate and sleepy. The supple butters and Vitamin E-packed Jojoba and Soybean oils calm even the severest of dry skin. Sold in 2.4 oz aluminum tube and a pretty decorative box. Perfect for purses and travel!"

Once a mark. girl, Always a mark. girl

Inspired by my love of beauty & makeup products...I decided to create a blog.  It is a way for me to share my love for all things makeup and beauty related.

Just a little background about me...I am a single mother to a beautiful 5 year old daughter.  My love for the makeup world came shortly after she was born.  I ventured into finding a side hobby...and that was selling makeup!  I joined a beauty company that has since dissolved into the world of Avon.  That company I joined is known as mark.

It taught me many things about the wonderful world of makeup and business and life.  How to make my mark in this world.  I met many fabulous ladies that I am still friends with to this day.  Joining mark. as an independent beauty consultant was one of the best decisions I made.  I have since converted to an Avon rep when the business dissolved under the Avon umbrella...but the mark. brand remains alive in my day to day activities.  I still use and sell the brand, and the many friendships that were established during my tenure with mark. remain alive.

I hope this blog will be a way for me to connect with other beauty minded ladies (and men) out there...and a way for me to express my love for the world of beauty!

Until next time...
mark. girl for life
